Apple Asks iPhone Duo Owners About Crease, Camera and Screen Size

Apple has started sending email surveys to some iPhone Duo buyers. The questions cover display size, the crease, the under-display camera, and a few other features. This iPhone Duo survey arrives roughly two weeks after the device launched.

What the iPhone Duo survey asks

The first question asks why you bought the iPhone Duo now. The answer choices include:

  • Wanting to try Apple's first foldable
  • An impulse purchase
  • Expecting smartphone prices to rise

The next questions cover the size of the display when the iPhone Duo is closed, how visible the crease is, whether the under-display camera is distracting, and how good its image quality is. The last question is open-ended and asks what you would add or change about the iPhone Duo.

According to the source, it's not unusual for Apple to run surveys after a new product debuts, so this move isn't surprising.

The compromises Apple is asking about

Some questions touch on the trade-offs the iPhone Duo makes compared with standard iPhone models. Its outer display is 5.4 inches, about the same as the discontinued iPhone mini line. The inner under-screen camera is limited to 4MP, and it has been one of the main complaints in reviews.

Interestingly, a few popular complaints don't appear in the survey. Apple doesn't ask about Touch ID, the experience of using apps that haven't been optimized, or the display cracks some users have reported. All three are among the top complaints about the iPhone Duo.

If you're weighing an iPhone Duo, the survey shows what Apple is asking buyers about directly. It clearly wants to know about the crease and the inner camera. Touch ID, app optimization, and display cracks, at least, don't show up in this survey.
