About z-scores & child growth.
What is a growth z-score?
A z-score shows how far a child's weight, height, or BMI is from the average of healthy children of the same age per WHO standards. 0 is exactly average; −2 to +2 is generally normal, while below −2 or above +2 needs attention.
How do I know if my child is stunted?
Stunting is assessed with length/height-for-age. A z-score below −2 is classified as stunted and below −3 as severely stunted. This calculator is a screening tool; diagnosis should be made by a health worker.
Which standards does this calculator use?
We use the official WHO LMS tables: WHO Child Growth Standards 2006 for ages 0–5 and WHO Growth Reference 2007 for ages 5–19, with nutrition categories following Indonesian Ministry of Health Regulation No. 2/2020.
How should I measure my child?
Weigh your child with minimal clothing. Under 2 years, measure length lying down; from 2 years, measure height standing barefoot. If measured differently, the calculator adjusts by 0.7 cm per WHO rules.
Is this z-score check free?
Yes. Z-scores, nutrition status, and normal ranges are free with no account needed. The paid full report adds WHO growth charts, a personalised explanation and nutrition tips, and a PDF to bring to your doctor.
Is my child's data safe?
Data is only used to calculate and show the result. Result pages are hidden from search engines and only reachable through your unique link.
