Touchscreen MacBook Pro Could Start at $2,899, Reports Say

Apple's first touchscreen MacBook Pro is reportedly priced $400 higher than the standard version, with a starting price of $2,899. The news comes just ahead of a launch expected on Wednesday.

Touchscreen MacBook Pro pricing for the 14-inch model

According to Bloomberg's sources, Apple considered a starting price of $2,899 for the 14-inch model with an M5 Pro chip. That figure sits $400 above the current 14-inch M5 Pro MacBook Pro. The report does not mention pricing for the 16-inch model.

A premium addition, with the old models staying

Apple is expected to introduce the touchscreen versions in two sizes as premium additions to the MacBook Pro lineup. The non-touchscreen models are not going away and will keep selling alongside them.

• Sizes: 14-inch and 16-inch
• Chip in the 14-inch model: M5 Pro
• Starting price under consideration: $2,899
• Difference from the current 14-inch M5 Pro model: $400

For now, these numbers are only reports from Bloomberg's sources, and the official pricing will be clear once Apple makes its announcement. One thing already stands out: the touchscreen is positioned as a premium option, so the non-touchscreen MacBook Pro remains available for those who prefer it.
