Nintendo announced that November 1st will be the first annual Pikmin Day. In a short showcase called the Pikmin Day Direct, Shigeru Miyamoto shared new info about Pikmin 4 for the Switch 2, an update for the mobile app Pikmin Bloom, and the Hello! Pikmin series of shorts.

Pikmin 4 on Switch 2 lets you use your voice

The most interesting news is about Pikmin 4. On the Switch 2, you can use the console's built-in microphone to give voice commands to Oatchi, the space dog.

Pikmin 4 also has a Dandori Academy mode that tests players' skills through specific challenges. Nintendo has planned limited tests for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, complete with leaderboards so you can compare your stats with other players.

Pikmin Bloom and Hello! Pikmin

Beyond Pikmin 4, Nintendo mentioned an update for Pikmin Bloom, the mobile game that has been around for a while. There is also Hello! Pikmin, a new series of shorts announced at the same event. The excerpt we worked from does not detail what the Pikmin Bloom update includes or when the series will air.

If you already own a Switch 2, the voice commands and the Dandori Academy tests could be a good reason to jump back into Pikmin 4. Voice commands also show that Nintendo is starting to use the Switch 2's built-in microphone in actual gameplay.
